TBD YunJi Center
Large Business Complex Community in Beijing
The Business Park Club House is a part of Beiqijia Business Park which includes ten office buildings and five residential towers. The site is locates at TBD (technology and business) area in Beijing. As a business park in such area, Beiqijia is planed to be a ecological, intelligent, cultural and 24/7 community. RTKL is in charge of the SD and DD for this project. To get started with a large community like this, 4 terms are used to describe the basic ideas: mixed, autonomous, city boundary and micro-eco system. In the center of park, a club house is needed for both business and residential. This will be a public space for people to gather, exercise, communicate and have various activities.
Since the surrounding buildings are designed to be formal shapes, client wants a charmful diamond like piece in the center of park to attract people and provide various activity opportunities. What are the possibilities of this space contact to the surrounding buildings with different functions? How is this club house can provide a chance for various activities?
A massing form is needed in the middle of the site to link ground level activity space to sunken plaza. The foot print of this space is mainly formed by circulation. As concept diagram 1.3 shows, connecting lines between each of the access give a boundary of mass to the space. To make an intersection between the club and open exterior space, a stand on ground level is pulled out toward sunken plaza to provide possibilities of using the shaded space underneath. A path between ground level and the sunken level is defined with an offset of the mass in southeast corner. At the east connection node, people can chose to go into the club house or straight forward to the sunken plaza. The top of mass is lowered to provide better view to people who stay at sunken level. Base on the study of irregular and diamond shape mass, enclosure pieces are divided into solid walls and a curtain system. The curtain wall or curtain roof can enhance eye contact between people, architecture, and nature.
